Q. What does Nordbak mean ?
A. Brand name of Loctite surface Engineering products that protect metal surface against abrasion, corrosion, erosion etc.
Q. What does Fixmaster mean ?
A. Brand of Loctite Surface Engineering products that restores worn areas of machine parts, such as shaft and housings.
Q. Which is the best surface treatment method prior to applying Loctite surface engineering products. ? Can we try a wire brush or surface grinding?
A. Grit blasting is the best method to eliminate all contamination on the surface thoroughly, it improves the contact surface and bonding capability. If there is contamination left on the surface, coating de-lamination may occur
Q. Are Loctite Surface Engineering products a permanent repair ?
A. Loctite Surface Engineering products provide a reliable sacrificial coating once applied. Longevity depends on operating conditions and environment, eg the media passing over the coating and temperature etc. Loctite surface engineering products can be resurfaced easily when required.
Q. Why should I use Loctite surface engineering products ?
A. Loctite surface engineering products can protect expensive assests from wear and abrasion, extending equipment life, increasing reliability and reducing costs.
Q. I am using wear resistant alloys to protect surfaces. How can you help us ?
A. This method requires using costly materials, labor for welding and possibly long repair times. Using Loctite surface engineering products eliminates the need to use expensive raw materials and hot work permits , saving costs and reducing repair times.
Q. Are Loctite surface engineering products one part. ?
A. Most of our products are a 2 part technology that are easy to mix with uncomplicated mixing ratios.
Q. What are the white beads in Loctite Surface Engineering products ?
A. They are ceramic beads that help our Loctite surface engineering products have world leading abrasion protection against a range of media.
Q. What type of grit blasting should I try and achieve. ?
A. Ideally blast class 2.5 or 3.
Q. I don’t see any contamination on the surface, am I ready to apply Loctite surface engineering products.?
A. There is a possibility of invisible contamination on the surface such as salt, acid and chemical residue. If we apply product without eliminating these contaminants on the surface, they will proliferate through the bondline and lead to de-lamination and ultimate failure of the coating
Q. We are applying Loctite Brushable ceramic with a brush, is their a better or easier method ?
A. Yes, we have a sprayable version of Brushable ceramic. It can be sprayed from a cartridge gun or bulk container saving time and money.
Q. We need to apply Wearing compound onto equipment operating at very high temperatures. Do you have a product that can work in this application?
A. Yes, we have products such as high temp and ultra high temperature resistant grades that could suit your application. Please contact a Loctite engineer to discuss details.
Q. We want to apply a protection coating to the inside of a tank that holds chemicals. How do I know your product is OK with the chemical ?
A. We can help you select an optimum product by referring to the Loctite surface engineering products chemical compatibility chart. Of course some chemicals are very aggressive, we suggest that you also consult a Loctite engineer to discuss the details.
Q. What is the ideal coating thickness for wearing compound ?
A. 6 mm thickness without air entrappment is ideal.
Q. We have a worn out shaft to repair ? which product should we use ?
A. Superior metal can be easily applied, cured and machined within a couple of hours. It also can be drilled and tapped. Would you like to see how ?( insert link to superior metal video)
Q. Do you have a product that can be cured under water ?
A. Yes, we have a product in our Fixmaster product range, please contact a Loctite engineer to discuss your application.
Q. What product is good for repairing damaged concrete area’s, quickly?
A. Loctite Magna-Crete is a a two part concrete repair system that has no mixing ratios. It can be used for horizontal and vertical applications. It has a fixture time between 10-90 minutes depending on temperature, allowing your surface to be back in service quickly and easily.
